CAVA DE’ TIRRENI, Walk in the Borgo Scacciaventi – FAI

Borgo Scacciaventi, also known in ancient times as lo commerzio, with octagonal pillars dating back to the early 15th century. At that time much of the population lived in the hamlets, which were sometimes difficult to reach, then extending as far as Cetara (Vietri, Cetara and other minor hamlets broke away from Cava in 1806). People went to Borgo Scacciaventi for trade and business. The wealthiest families began to build their palaces at the Borgo (Scacciaventi was the surname of one of them), the merchant and craftsman began to find it appropriate to build a dwelling on the store, which was enriched by the porch ahead, to protect the goods.
